Ruim vijftig kunstenaars houden op 10 en 11 april open huis. Dan is er weer de jaarlijkse atelierroute, die overigens merkwaardigerwijs al twee weken eerder officieel wordt geopend. De route krijgt er dit jaar een bijzondere kunstvorm bij: Aliens. Die houdt in dat kunstwerken worden tentoongesteld in garages van particulieren.Verder is er extra veel kunst te bekijken in de Kunstuitleen Amstelveen. Bij het Aliens-project zijn twaalf garages betrokken. Ook die kan men bezoeken. Fotografen – volgens de gemeente allemaal topfotografen – leggen die Aliens vast voor een expositie onder het Keizer Karel viaduct. Alle Aliens in ‘hun’ garages gefotografeerd door Daniëlle van Ark, Willeke Duijvekam (die dit jaar een World Press Photo prijs won), Lucia Ganieva, Marrigje de Maar en Christine van Rooijen.
Met de foto’s heeft vormgever Reinoud van Hasselt twaalf affiches ontworpen. Die zijn, van de officiële opening van de Atelierroute op 28 maart af, te zien in de Keizer Karel Galerie (het viaduct onder de A9 bij het Stadshart). Prof. dr. Vincent Icke, hoogleraar theoretische sterrenkunde aan de Universiteit Leiden en kunstenaar / eigenaar van Alien Art verricht de opening.. Ook zijn Alien Artschilderijen van zijn hand te zien zijn in de Kunstuitleen. Tijdens de expositie in de Keizer Karel Galerie zijn fragmenten van zijn openingsspeech te horen.
